Power of Workplace Giving

Power of Workplace Giving!

A few moons a go I use to work as a Manager with local charities Camp Quailty and Life Education. Having come from a 'Team Building' background I was always facsinated in using workplace giving and volunteering as a tool to boost team connectedness and performance.

My first experience with this was working as an Outdoor Instructor with Outward Bound Australia and helping Fathers and Sons redefine their roles and improve their relationship by completing community service projects.

Each time I saw first hand how working together - giving energy, time, skills, money and resources to a purpose bigger than them helped to positively shape and redefine their self perspection and place within the 'family'.

Now the Research Backs It Up!

In his book Give and Take: A Revolutionary Approach to Success, Wharton School Professor Adam Grant says "Offering employees the opportunity to give in the workplace strengthened their commitment to the organisaton."

In another study it's been shown our brain releases Dopamine (The Happy Hormone) when we donate money to a chartible organisation.
